Collection: South Asian Languages

The Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia are home to the largest group of writing systems in the world. The vast majority of these scripts derive from Brahmi or Brahui. In millennia of innovation these developed into Tamil, Malayalam, Sinhala, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali and Devanagari, to name just a few from the Indian subcontinent. Thai, Burmese, Assamese and the several Tibetan scripts are also related to Brahmi.
